I was shocked but not surprised. Kids are capable of these acts, but one would think and hope we are past these actions. This is clearly a result of improper training at home. All the "Collars" in the world cannot negate the fact that you, of all people, failed to teach love and respect in the home or church...(Joe). I feel those 2 boys should not be allowed back in school for 5 years. But, what about home schooling, will they be prevented from receiving completion courses somewhere else? Some years ago, Landsdowne Jr. High School in E. St. Louis, suffered great fire damage at the hands of students...the Judge that handled the case, sentenced the culprits (although juvenile) to jail time because he felt a strict "no tolerance" message needed to be sent...0 tolerance for these actions. I think it is time to send that kind of message again. This kind of conduct will in no ways be tolerated. If you are a concerned parent, look for changes in your child's mood, ask questions about school and activities and your child's friends. Find out what is going on in your child's mind and social circle, through conversation. "Old fashion", you say. But guess what, it works. We owe it to our children to be concerned, because today shapes them for the future. Your child may not always be the one on the winning side, he/she could very well be the victim or casualty. I did not use my name because I want attention drawn to the problem and a viable solution, and not to who I am or if I have a right to comment. I don't want the issue to be clouded by other issues.
